1. Medewerker : Goedemorgen, Jan hier. (Good morning, Jan here. )
2. Baas: Hallo Jan. Waarom bel je mij? Je moet al op je werk zijn. (Hello Jan. Why are you calling me? You should already be at work. )
3. Medewerker : Ik voel me heel ziek. Ik hoest veel en ik heb een beetje koorts. (I feel really sick. I am coughing a lot and I have a bit of a fever. )
4. Baas: Heb je griep? Of de maandagochtendziekte? Heb je een doktersbewijs? (Do you have the flu? Or the Monday morning sickness? Do you have a doctor’s note? )
5. Medewerker : Ik kan nergens een dokter vinden. Ik voel me niet goed en ik ben erg misselijk. (I can't find a doctor anywhere. I don't feel well and I am very nauseous. )
6. Baas: Jan, zonder doktersbewijs kan dat niet. Je meldt je zo aan op het werk of er zijn consequenties. (Jan, without a doctor's certificate that's not possible. You need to report to work soon or there will be consequences. )
7. Medewerker : Ok. Ik ga naar de dokter en vraag een bewijs. (Okay. I will go to the doctor and ask for a certificate. )
8. Baas: En Jan... Ik hoor dat de Elfstedentocht volgende zaterdag is. (And Jan... I hear that the Elfstedentocht is next Saturday. )
9. Medewerker : Eh… ja, dat klopt. (Eh... yes, that's correct. )
10. Baas: Ben jij daar niet ingeschreven als deelnemer? En is er training vandaag? (Aren't you registered there as a participant? And is there training today? )
11. Medewerker : In theorie wel. Misschien voel ik mij deze middag al beter na wat rust. (In theory, yes. I might feel better this afternoon after some rest. )
12. Baas: Als je genezen bent, dan kom je werken. Je gaat niet schaatsen. (If you are recovered, then you come to work. You do not go skating. )
13. Medewerker : Ok. Ik zoek een apotheek en koop me een medicijn. Rond 10 uur ben ik op het werk. (Okay. I will look for a pharmacy and buy myself some medicine. I will be at work around 10 o'clock. )
14. Baas: Ok. Jouw collega´s zijn zelden tot nooit ziek. Het moet anders! (Ok. Your colleagues are rarely if ever sick. This needs to change! )
